In Her Glory

Our daughter wasn’t raised on a farm but loves everything about farm life. Her happiest days are when the new chicks arrive.

Chicks are so cute. I love chickens and if I had more garden space we’d keep them. 🙂

They’re a lot of work for our daughter, Carole, but she loves every second of it. Some folks are suited to it … me, not so much

Yp, our daughter and family raised chicks during ~~C~OVID years. Sadly. the weasal killed the cockerill and then the neighbours dog got the chickens

Nothing smells better than a baby chick or a baby human, Claire. I like visiting them, but wouldn’t want to raise them.

I meant raising chicks, lol … and at my age, I believe that applies to humans too 😂

Awww, so cute. My late late grandmother raised chickens and sold the eggs on her farm. At one time she roughly counted over 500, and then the little ones came along. My cousins and I spent many and hour playing with them, and when they grew up, they became supper. We ate so much chicken it took me years to make myself eat it again. She had an old broken down upright piano in her barn and one speckled hen would walk across the keyboard as if she knew what song she was playing. Sounded a bit like Chopin or maybe Liberace.

I’m so happy that my post brought back so many fond memories for you, Phil. Our daughter also has laying hens and turkeys. Once they’re fully grown, the Turkeys she gives names like “Thanksgiving Dinner”, etc.

What a cutie! Sometimes, it seems, we are born with some affinity that is unrelated to our environment. It keeps us interesting!

So true, Betty! I was born on the prairies with very few trees, but when we lived farther north and close to the tree line, I had a deep sense of being “home”.
