Addictive

Everyone, both here in the blogosphere, and among my family and friends back home have been talking about ChatGPT.

I’ve been resisting… until two days ago when my closest sister posted on Facebook, the cutest caricature of herself.

I called to ask her how she made it, and of course, it was through ChatGPT.

I succumbed and downloaded the app.

I spent the next several hours making caricatures and laughing so hard at the results.

I then submitted a photo of my kitchen here in south Texas, and asked for ideas for cabinet paint and countertops.

Before I knew it, I was asking for a printed schedule for my hourly and weekly activities.

Every single experience was interesting, fun, and rewarding.

I can see how people can get addicted to this stuff … because after just two days, I already am.

More on that in an upcoming post.

Hi Terry, I’ve also had great fun with Chat GPT. Love the picture you created. I now use it most of the time when I don’t have an appropriate photograph to accompany a post. I’ve also used it for recipe dieas when I need to use some specific ingredients. I do add a pinch of commonsense to its suggestions but overall it is good

I’m beginning to realize just how useful it is in so many areas, Carole … and yes, lots of fun too.

Absolutely! Once I realized how helpful it can be in so many areas, and be fun at the same time, it was hook, line, and sinker for me!

I am keeping to the bare minimum where AI is concerned ie when searching for info. I still check the main source it flags up. A Polish friend says ChatGPT is very helpful for her with translation. I do like your cartoon though!

I’ve found it to be useful in so very many things already, Lana. I’m not using it to source general info – but more so to get assistance with ideas. I’ll shed more light on that soon.

Terry, the image you created is awesome. It definitely looks like you. It’s a powerful tool, but very addictive. I’m looking forward to reading more about your experience with it.

It’s definitely addictive, Edward and as each day goes by, it becomes more and more apparent why this is so.

I will admit, I’m scared of AI. I’ll watch your post for a while and see how it works for you. Our kids and a few grandkids use it, but they are the ones we call when we can’t figure out our iPhone. Does it cook and mow the lawn?

Not yet, Phil … but then again … maybe it does and I’m just not aware of it because I’m a newbie. I’ll continue to post as I discover new things. I’m thinking a weekly recap for now.

I look forward to reading more about how you use it, Terry. Like Annemarie, my blog has hundreds of views.

As I just said to Anne, I have no idea how many views my blog gets, and those stats have never interested me. In under three days I’ve already found tons of uses for the app, Betty and the limitless uses are staggering. Whatever you can think of, this app will put together for you and keep refining it by asking questions and then following your directives. This morning, in a few minutes, it put together my smart phone photography class I’ll be teaching here in our park at the end of February, inclusive of handouts for participants. It provided a PDF file so I can print it. What took me days and hours in preparation other years, took less than 30 minutes with ChatGPT and it’s exactly what I wanted.

That is good Terry. I am glad you have found so many positive uses for it. One issue I have – and this is with AI not specifically Chat GPT – is that since AI has exploded on the internet, I have hundreds of views on my blog everyday – but they are views of every blog since I began blogging so I assume someone is using technology to scan through all of my blogs looking for something. Personal information? I have no idea but it makes me uneasy. Maybe if I understood it better, I would feel better about it.

I never check to see how many views my blog gets, so I don’t know if there’s been much of a change over time. I think there’s a big learning curve for all of us, but I finally decided that it’s not going to go away, so I might as well proceed with caution.

Terri, you will have so much fun with this app. I asked it to create a 7-day meal plan (low calorie, high protein, under 1200 calories). I was impressed. I recently asked for a review of ‘Here One Moment’ and found it helpful. Yesterday, I did the photo thing. Maybe I’ll share my results in an upcoming post. It is definitely entertaining and addictive.

I’ve had the app for less than three days, Suzanne and have already found it to be useful in so many more ways than entertainment. I can see I’m going to have to set myself time limits on it.
