Ahhh … Back to Mexico

This week, we’ve been going over to Mexico for dental appointments.

It’s only a 20 minute drive from our home.

My favourite part of this is that we can once more enjoy authentic Mexican food. We didn’t get across once last winter, so now we’re making up for lost time.

I had some problems with my feature photo because of the shadows cast on the plate. I’ll be sure to avoid that next time.

Each of us ordered our fave dish : enchiladas for hubs and chile relleno for me.

We forgot that we could order one dish, split it, and easily have enough food for lunch.

Practise makes better.

That looks so good. What shadow? Sorry, my eyes were fixed on the refried beans. 😀

Haha! My hubs loves refried beans too, Edward – especially the way they’re prepared in Mexico. Have a great rest of your day!

The mexican food looks tasty but what is it? I only tired mexican once and the heat nearly blew my head off

Pretty much every dish comes with refried beans and spanish rice. My entree was chile relleno and hubs had enchiladas. Neither was extremely spicy.

I used to love eating in Mexico. There was a restaurant in Matamoros called The Drive In, and it was the best in town. Now, our new favorite place is a hole-in-the-wall in Marfa, Texas, owned by a family from Mexico, and it’s not Tex-Mex; it’s the real thing.

There’s definitely a difference between Tex-Mex and the real deal, Phil. We enjoy both but authentic Mexican food is in a realm all its own. Have a great day!

We are headed to Marfa between Christmas and New Years so we can gorge ourselves on the real deal.

Looks good! I love enchiladas. I had to go back to the picture to see the shadows. But, if you’re perfecting your taking pictures of food skills, well I guess, you just have to go back!

Thanks, Betty. I guess we really are our own worst critics. Have a great evening!

Mecican food is great, but even greater in Mexico I can imagine. We have a Mexican chain restaurant here called Las Iguanas but Franc often raves about the Mexican he had when we were in LA years ago 🙂

You’re 100% correct, Lana. Here in Texas, we have lots of Tex-Mex food. It’s very good, but there’s something truly special about the authentic Mexican food prepared in Mexico. Have a fab evening!

Thanks, Anne … and it definitely was delicious! I’m going to revisit my food photography course once I’ve finished my current photo editing course.
