Chicago 2004

For many years, Chicago has been home to giant murals.

It’s pretty easy to capture decent shots of them “on the way by” if you’re passing through during rush hour.

I love how public art like that transforms everyday commutes into something a little more inspiring.

Texas has quite a few, also. Many small towns have one advertising their town. In Dallas, the Deep Ellum area has them on almost every building, but they are painted by wacko artists and make no sense. I did it one year ago, and it was before we had the projectors to put the drawing on the wall for tracing.

Have seen several in TX too, Phil, but always on the lookout for more. Interesting about the projectors. I didn’t know about that.

Most ot the mural artist nowadays use these high-powered digital projectors to display their sketch or picture on the wall of the building they are painting: no more grid system and it makes it easier; I have a small digital projector I use sometimes to trace a photo onto canvas or when I paint circus posters. Fort Worth has many western themed murals downtown and in the stockyard district. I’ll post a few of mine.
