2016 – The Year of the Monkey

Once we completed our 2016 exploration of places in Arizona we hadn’t seen on previous visits, we headed to Nevada, picked up my cousin, Carrie, at the airport, and proceeded for the nest week, to tour her around the Las Vegas area.

Carrie had never been there before, so the fact that her visit coincided with the Chinese New Year made the trip for her all the more fun – and definitely extremely colourful!

Outside of China, I’d bet that Las Vegas is the next best place for Chinese New Year decor.

I have wanted to see the non gambling bits of Vegas, ever since I read Andre Agassi’s autobiography many years ago.

And there are so many other great things to see since that time, Lana!

Clever as the Monkey and lucky as the moon — a perfect charm for a Las Vegas Year of the Monkey. 🐒🎰

What a fun time! Yes, a lot of people don’t realize there is a ton to do in Las Vegas that isn’t gambling. So glad you and your cousin had fun.

That would be my guess, too! We visited Las Vegas just once. We didn’t gamble, but we got plenty of steps in!

It’s certainly a great place for exercise, Betty! My cousin isn’t a gambler either, but we had no problem finding lots to see and do right from morning until night, every day! Rest well tonight!

I wonder if they still go as all out since the pandemic? It sounds like Las Vegas has slowed down in recent years.

I’m not sure, Anne. I’ve heard that it’s lots more expensive too. The date of this post was our last of many visits there. Have a great evening!
