Trouble in the Sky

Late yesterday afternoon, a call was interrupted by the loud honking on my cell phone of an Environment Canada tornado warning for our area.

Within an hour, the eerie calm set in and the sky darkened.

My feature photo is looking east from our balcony. Soon, the wind picked up, and the nimbus clouds moving in from the west started attacking the fluffy white cumulus clouds, threatening the formation of the dreaded combination: cumulonimbus. The cloud formations I learned in science class so many years ago have stuck with me. That’s a testament to a good teacher.

Thankfully, our only outcome from the ominous warning, was a ten minute episode of heavy rain, wind, thunder, and lightning; then it just carried on moving east.

I’ll admit I was more than a bit anxious for a while.

So crazy! We had one touch down by us! We are all thankfully safe here but yeah, what a ride!

Definitely scary. We get a few of those warnings here, and it’s terrifying to see those cloud formations.

It sure is! It’s always good to have a plan in place … which we don’t 🤦‍♀️

It’s kind of hard to prepare for those. We usually go to the basement until we get the all-clear from the weather center.

So happy you’re safe and sound. We all know how strong and devastating natural disasters can be, so of course you were anxious! Great shot of the clouds!

Drama in the sky! Glad it was just rain, wind, thunder and lightning. And I’m glad there is a good warning system.

Drama for sure, Betty! I’m very pleased with our warning system as well – I was able to notify my sis and her hubs who were camped at a park a few miles east of here. Her phone was off at the time the warning came, but she turned it back on after her nap, so she was thankful I let her know, and they were able to arrange for safe cover if it hit there. Thankfully, all they got was what we got here. Have a fab rest of your day!

That would be a very scary noise to hear from your pocket/bag :-S Glad you are ok. Just today Franc and I were saying how much we like clouds.

It blasted right into my ear, as I was on a call at that time, and yes, Lana, it was unnerving for sure. I love clouds too … just not these types of clouds! Have a great rest of your day!
