June “Snow”

Mid June here sees the pure white fluff/fuzz gently drifting down from the poplar/cottonwood trees like snowflakes.

It always amazes me that it collects in drifts – also like snow.

IT really does look like snow. Is it like pollen which makes you sneeze>

Some folks are very allergic to it. Thankfully, I’m not, Carole!

If we have poplar trees in Regina, I have never seen them – or I have never noticed the ‘snow from them. Around here we have Elm trees, spruce, maple, apple..

I’ll keep my eye out for poplars tomorrow, Anne. I have a specialist appointment tomorrow “in the city”

What interesting little clumps of fluff! The cottonwood tree fluff in my area tends to get blown into clumps, but they accumulate next to a fence or other structure. It’s interesting that the drifts in your photo aren’t more concentrated next to the building. Happy to read it wasn’t real snow!

I thought it was snow! How late in the season do you normally get snow up in your area?

Usually, we see the end of winter snow in March, Charla and the first winter snowfall can come as early as October. It’s quite unpredictable from year to year.
