Sometimes our prairie skies are almost too much to take in.
Saturday sunset was just such a time. As we headed home from the lake, I was constantly “ooing and ahhing” at what we were seeing all around us. As the sun made its descent, the pinks, oranges and golds, accompanied by the sun’s bright light peeking through and around the clouds, created a work of art in the sky that no earthly artist could compete with.
Photo Note: Because our car windows are tinted, the colours in the original photo were very muted compared to what we actually saw. In Snapseed, I corrected the white balance and added a soft contrast to the original to more accurately show the vibrant colours and the light as we saw them.

Beautiful! And I love your wording – “a work of art in the sky that no earthly artist could compete with.” You capture the feeling of awe perfectly. This is how I feel when we watch a sunset in Michigan. Everybody leaves once the sun goes down. But about 15 minutes later (or so) the sky is often magnificent! It is as you say – “a work of art in the sky.”

So stunning. Love what you said about ‘no earthly artist can touch.’ That’s very sweet. Mother Nature wins every time- nature is the most amazing art form. 🙂
