In the first week of January, I took this photo on a sunrise power walk.
It was cold walking against the wind, but I always try to go that direction first to get it over with.
On this particular morning, Canada’s red and white flag had a perfect backdrop in the light red hues of the sunrise.
Whenever the Canadian Flag at our RCMP depot is at Half Mast, I research the reason when I return home. This time, it was in memory of Calgary Police Officer Sergeant Andrew Harnett, who died in the line of duty.
“The flag stands for a set of principles, not the lack of adherence to them.”

Nice photo! Love the color of the sky. I also like how you research why the flag is half-mast. Your actions honor that person.
