Even when there are no leaves, the sunrise illuminates the tops of the trees.
I’m missing my sunrise walks this week, and it’ll be several days yet before the temperatures are conducive to my hour-long power walks.
Each morning, I check the weather app on my phone, in hopes that the bright red text that says “Extreme Cold Warning!” is no longer at the top of the temperature report.
With wind chill values in the -40 to -50 Celsius range, no matter how warm I bundle up, there’s still a great risk of freezing any part of my face that’s exposed for any longer than a few minutes.
So, I stay inside and look at photos of recent walks, and look forward to the day when I can be outdoors again as the breaking sun kisses the tops of the trees.
“In the winter she curls up around a good book and dreams away the cold.”

Love the phrase “breaking sun kisses the tops of trees.” Also, love the quote. The expansive colorful sky dwarfs the building in the distance. Beautiful winter shot! Enjoy your inside day!
