Friday Freestyling … A Fave Sammy

Do you shorten the word sandwich to “sammy”?

In favour of lazy lingo, we’ve done this for ages.

What’s your fave sammy?

Ours is the home-made BLT. We prefer home-made because we can be sure the bacon is thick cut, lower fat, and warm. There’s just something about this crunchy, soft, savoury, tart, warm and cold, combined meat and salad sandwich that satisfies so many sensory food experiences at the same time.

I can’t say I have heard that abbreviation. Wondered if you had picked it up with a drawl down south. We love a bacon, garden tomato, onion, cheese, egg sandwich for breakfast. The cheese melts, the onion adds a little punch. It is so good but only had for the 2 months of fresh garden tomatoes.

We’ve used that term for years, Bernie and long before we started wintering south. Your fave sounds delish and yes, fresh garden tomatoes make a big difference! Have a great day!

I hadn’t hear the word “Sammy” for a sandwich until as an adult I saw Rachel Ray, on Food Network, use that name. It is a cute name, I think. Hum, my favorite “Sammy” would probably be Chicken Club Sandwich with bacon, lettuce, etc. The other day I made it on a Sourdough bread bun I made and it was mouth-watering delicious. Your picture looks scrumptious, too!

BLT’s are my favorite too! I’m not really a bacon connoisseur, but now I think I’ll make sure to buy the thick kind! Yum!!! Your photo is making my mouth water!

Our thick cut bacon here in Canada is about twice as thick as that we found in Texas. Maybe different in other states. It definitely makes a difference, Lenore. Have a fab Friday!

Okay, now I need to find a BLT for lunch! Looks so good! I can hear the crunch of that first bite and feel that juicy tomato in my mouth! And it has just the right amount of bacon!
