For Charla

Charla is one of the travel bloggers I follow.

She and her husband are full-timers in their RV and once a week, through photos and fun descriptions, she recaps their journeys across the USA.

You can find her blog here.

In her post yesterday, Charla had a photo and information about this controversial metal sculpture at Council Bluffs Iowa. As soon as I saw the photo, I said to hubs, “We were through there last fall and I have a photo of that sculpture too!”

Because my photo was shot through the tinted front window of our truck, the white balance was skewed. I corrected it in one move in Lightroom. Here’s a before and after:

Today’s post seemed the easiest way to share my photo with Charla and to introduce my readers to her informative, educational, and entertaining blog.

That ‘wait, we drove through there too and I have a shot of that exact sculpture’ moment is one of the quiet joys of following other travelers. Odyssey at Council Bluffs really is striking, and nice save fixing the tinted-window white balance in Lightroom in a single move. Half our best photos started as grab shots through the truck glass.

You’re right about the joys of following other travellers’ adventures and the memories of having been there that are often restored in the process. Thanks for the compliment on the edit. Have a great day!

That looks like things my mother warned me about when I was a kid. It has injury written all over it.

It’s definitely a scary looking work of art, Phil. It’s aptly named Odyssey. Have a great evening!

I had to goooogle the sculpture to understand why it might be controversial. I think it is groovy just judging by the photo you shared. Public art, like public libraries…add much to the culture of a community imho. If it starts a conversation, it was probably successful for the artist.

Thanks for the referral. I did check out the blog.

That’s how almost all art goes, right? What some people love, others don’t care for. I agree with you on the starting a conversation bit, Chuck and thanks for checking out Charla’s blog. Have a great afternoon!

There are a lot of travel bloggers out there! It is cool to recognize a location or thing that someone mentions. Like reading a book when you know the spot they are writing from. It is an interesting sculpture.
