Friday Freestyling … Pigsqueak?

When I’m out for my morning walks, I’m always on the lookout for something to photograph.

These quick stops and then restarts at or above pre-stopping pace, create a form of HIIT.

Recently, this flower in a yard I passed by, caught my attention.

After I got home, I looked it up and was surprised at its many aliases:

heart-leaved bergenia,heartleaf bergenia, leather bergenia, winter-blooming bergenia, elephant-ears, elephant’s ears, Korean elephant-ear, badan, pigsqueak, Siberian tea, and Mongolian tea.

The one that made me smile and wonder why was “pigsqueak”.

    A beautiful flower regardless of what you call it. You remind me of my mother. She was always prepared to immortalize any special moment in a photograph – and that was before the convenience of cell phone cameras. I am the opposite. I get caught up in the moment and regret not snapping a photo hours later. 🫠

      My photos are my daily diary, Anne. They’re all location, time, and date stamped when I take them. It’s a good thing to get caught up in the moment too. I find that I see and appreciate more details of those moments when I’m figuring out how I’ll take the photos. I’ve been doing this since my first camera as a teenager, so yes – long before phone cameras. Have a great day!
