Happiness Is … Walking

My Monday posts will now focus on happiness. The goal is to start each week on a positive note.

I ’ve recently been seeing lots of clever memes from a Facebook page called ā€œHippie Worldā€.

The memes are ai generated, so aren’t subject to copyright (I figured as much, but checked anyways to be sure).

Because, when I was a teenager, I was a wannabe hippie, because I’ve been an avid walker for many years, and because many of the songs referenced are on my walking playlists, this one spoke to me:

All great songs, aren’t they? The meme still makes me smile.

That one wasn’t familiar to me, Lana, so I just now gave it a listen on YouTube. I’m amazed that any song in the sixties that made number 1 in the UK didn’t make it to my radio. The song has a great walking tempo, so thanks for a new tune to add to a walking playlist. Have a groovy day. šŸŽ¶

Helen Shapiro became a Christian in the 80s after being raised a Jew in London. Her testimony is on You Tube. It’s so interesting and she has a great sense of humour.

Not a huge fan of AI but love the line about 500 miles! One of my absolute favourite songs. Looking forward to real walks in the, hopefully, not too distant future.

I like both that one and ā€œI’m On My Wayā€ by The Pretenders. Both songs have good walking tempos. I wish you continued and steady healing so you can get back to those real walks, Bernie. Enjoy your day!

I am doing a km a day but the pace is definitely not normal but burning extra calories from the arm motions of swinging my hat endlessly in a figure eight to try and keep the mosquitoes off. Spray isn’t effective when there are 10 MILLION of them. Bernie

I wish there was a care button vs a like, Bernie. Mosquitoes are no fun! We haven’t seen any yet here, and I think we can thank the winds for that. A km per day is a good start. Better than zero km per day šŸƒā€ā™€ļø

I took my family to LA to see the King Tut exhibit back in 2005. To fun it up I bought a used Bangles Cassette tape and played ā€œWalk Like an Egyptianā€ on the car radio as we drove to LACMA for the exhibit. My daughters risked dealing with my weirdness around any family happening.

Yes, I know it can be found on my phone today, but I did not even have a cell phone back then.

That was a great idea, Chuck! I wouldn’t consider it weirdness – moreso adding to the interest and excitement. You were making memories. Have a fab day!
