Happiest Places

After walking the same six streets over and over again in our south Texas park for the past six months, I’m loving being back to our walking/biking/hiking trails here at home in Sask, Canada.

There’s just something about the trees getting ready to leaf out, the fresh air, the river, the variety of trails, and the familiarity of home that makes my morning walks here at home so peaceful, meaningful, enjoyable, and special.

Do you have a place that’s your happiest?

Life is kinda like that – what is around the next bend, I wonder. I have several places in Scandinavia that are my absolute favourite space but the beach where I live on a warm but not hot day is pretty special too.

That’s a great analogy about the curves in the path, Amanda. We hope to someday visit Norway. I can imagine that beach life would be special. There’s not a lot more calming than the sound of waves washing up to the shore.

I can imagine the scenery in Texas and restrictions on open space very different to Canada. My happiest place was walking on the shoreline and paddling in the sea.

It all depends on where you are in Texas, Carole. There is definitely an abundance of wide open spaces and lovely trails there too, but not as convenient for me to access as here at home. I can see why you chose the shoreline and the sea as your happiest places.

I can see there is a lot to offer there Terry! And yes please to bridge posts – love them. My favourite place has to be the North East coast of Tyne & Wear and Northumberland.

I’ll do the bridges post once it warms up and everything is green, Lana. We’ve had a late spring snowfall the past two days, which is normal for here.

Nice trail! I bet it was hard walking the same streets for months. At least on the trail, you can see nature as it changes, and I’m sure there are birds and other small animals that make the walk interesting. I’m not sure if I have a place per se, but there is a spot by the Mississippi River that I really like.

It always feels better walking in nature, and yes, there are squirrels, gophers, many varieties of birds, and even deer every now and then. God’s creatures make for a happy walk. Also, as you said, watching the seasons change is also a gratifying experience. Have a great day, Edward!

I am glad you are back to your happy place, Terry. Mine would have to be Winnipeg. I love The Forks, Polo Park Mall, Assiniboine Park, The Spicy Noodle Restaurant, the ambiance of the downtown area. Nothing but happy memories of times there!
