    I think the deformed feet could be the result of inbredding or damage from spikes or acid poisons left on window sills meant to deter birds from nesting there. I am not a fan of pigeons, when we have so many orher amazing Australian birds, but they are gentle creatures.

      Thanks for sharing yet another theory about the deformed feet. We have lots of amazing birds too, Amanda. I pretty much love them all, from the smallest to the greatest.

        I am sure you do have lots of lovely birds Terry, but as with our flora, the 900 avian species are often highly unusual. Your post made me look up when the pigeon was introduced here, and it seems that it was introduced for racing or domesticated purposes in the 1870s. Interesting.

    This is a handsome pair! Most of them here have deformed feet, probably from eating junk food left around.
