Chatty Food Plan

For my past several posts, I’ve been writing about my foray into ChatGPT.

These posts have included notes about ai assistance I’ve received with indoor decor, painting cabinets, landscaping, lesson preparation for a workshop I teach, exercises to boost metabolism, and art work guidance.

Another area where I’m receiving extraordinary help is in that of a sustainable diet – also intended to boost metabolism.

After the usual question and answer format, the ChatGPT app developed an eating program specifically for my age, activity level, and health status that is both doable and liveable.

Regular check ins are a part of it, and the always kind and supportive approach worked into the algorithm is most helpful.

As I enter week three of the eight week reset developed for me, I’ve lost 2.5 lbs, and 1/2 inch from my waist. These are the measurable victories.

The things that matter far more to me than rapid results and/or the numbers on the scale are: slow and sustainable results, a healthy higher protein and lower carb eating plan, and my clothing fitting better.

So far, all three are happening.

That’s brilliant, Terry. WEll done. I have found ChatGPT useful when I’ve had a couple of ingredients and need a recipe. I’ve never tried re speific diet advice

I’m finding it more useful all the time, Carole. It seems there’s no subject it doesn’t tackle. I guess, in reality, it’s a super fast search engine that consolidates, summarizes, and capitalizes on everything it finds on the web that’s relevant to a query. At least that’s my take on how it works. All I know for sure is that although it’s not error free, it sure saves me a whole lot of time Googling and spares me those Google rabbit holes.

The slow and sustainable framing is the right one. Most AI diet tools push rapid results because that’s what gets attention, the fact that this is working at a pace that actually sticks is the real result.

Is that Avacado and salsa? I could eat like that. Best wishes on your new health journey.

I’m a great lover of Avocado, my mother fed them to me as a child before I had teeth. She would mash them up and spoon them into my toothless little mouth. Not sure if she included salsa. As I grew older, I wondered why my attraction to Mexican food was so strong, then she reminded me of the guaca days in the early fifties. Now, Momo and me eat them on everything: toast, chips, steaks, salads, cereal, eggs, bacon, sandwiches, and so on. We always have them around, so I can tell a Mexican Avocado from one that was grown in California, or Brazil. I’m not an expert, or an aficionado, but I could be if pressed hard enough.

Thank you! I felt in charge of my health for a very long time and then it seemed, after my 70th birthday, lots of things started to change and I felt myself slipping. It feels so good to be looking after things again and seeing progress.

Thanks, Charla! The main thing is being as healthy as possible as I advance in years, and this feels like I’m on the right track.
