Space X Mural

It’s about an hour’s drive from our winter home to Boca Chica Beach, TX.

This is where the Texas SpaceX rocket production facility and launch pad is located.

We visit there at least twice each winter to see what’s new.

Last year, by the time we made our first visit to Space X, the new rocket production facility had been completed and the massive building had an equally massive mural on an end wall.

Great mural. It looks like that’s how he envisioned people living on Mars.

You’re likely correct in that, Edward.

It’s interesting to follow along on its development. I also hope you can see it someday.

This looks an amazing place. I wonder where the rocket will be sent to?

Their goal is to send a manned rocket to Mars, Carole.

Terry, we have seen a couple of launches from the Florida site from our community docks in Florida. I didn’t know there would be a city at the facilities in Texas, which makes sense, considering the number of employees needed for such an operation. All sounds kind of dystopian, doesn’t it? Nice that you can see it up close. Maybe they will open for tours one day.

We saw a launch last year. Starbase is already open for tours, Suzanne – we just haven’t done that yet … maybe this year. Have a fab day!

Very impressive. I seem to remember reading something about Musk proving a bunch of space-age tiny houses in that area for employees (however, you never know if such things are true or not!). Let me know if you see any tiny houses on your next visit. :o)

No tiny houses last time we were there in Feb. There are a lot of smaller Airstream trailers, which oddly seem to fit the rocket ship theme. There are many new houses (not tiny houses) at Boca Chica village, which is adjacent to the production facility. The town site is now completely owned by Musk and has been renamed Starbase. We’ll check for tiny houses this winter, Lenore. Have a fab day!

That is some great artwork. Do the artists get paid for such commissions or is it about prestige I wonder?

I would imagine that Mr. Musk can afford to pay the artists 😉

Ah yes, nothing says ‘ambition’ like three massive rockets standing to attention. 🚀🚀🚀

I’ve never seen the inside, Anne … but I can tell you this … It takes a good long time to drive past it at the low speed limit. It’ll be about a million square feet at completion!
