Murals at Home

Sticking with my Monday Murals theme, I decided to feature a few from where we live.

This mural was completed in panels by the community. The artist who created it, made it a paint by number, so that anyone who wanted to, could paint a part of it.

That artist/designer won a $1,000 award for her idea and for including community involvement.

Each hand is holding something that defines our community, and the tiger lilies scattered throughout the painting are our provincial flower.

The sunset in the background gives a shoutout to our province’s motto β€œThe Land of Living Skies” (our sunrises and sunsets are nothing short of spectacular).

What a great idea the artist had to include the community! What type of building is it attached to? Sometimes, murals are used to spruce up a run-down structure, but it doesn’t look like that’s the case with this mural. Beautiful!

It’s a small business building, Lenore- not old or run down, but in a well-traveled area. Have a fab rest of your evening!

It sure was a great idea, Carole. I’m sure that everyone who worked on it looks at it with pride each time they walk or drive by. Have a good rest tonight!

The artist had a great idea to have paint by numbers for the community to really be a part of the project. Fantastic idea! What is the hand holding on the left, it is a black and grey thing.

We have a very successful Jr hockey team here, with a long history, Charla. In fact, hubs even played for them in his younger days. The sleeve is the team jersey, and the object is a hockey puck. Unfortunately one of the panels was either not installed completely straight, or has slipped a bit, so the puck is distorted. Have a great day!

That is neat your hubs played on the team. Sounds like it is still active and playing there, which is very neat. Thanks for the explanation of the puck in the picture. You have a great day as well. Thanks.

That’s a great mural! Before I read your explanation, I interpreted the mural to be showing hands from a diversity of people, each contributing something unique.

Yes, it was a great concept and well-executed, so, in my mind the artist/designer earned her prize. Have a great Monday, Betty!

P.S. First power walk done this morning. Only 2K as I’m starting slow – but even that felt fantastic!

I had to pass on the walk in the fog, but I am about to do my aerobics and weights. πŸ˜ŠπŸ€—
