Birdseed for Folks

This container of Nut and Seed Brittle weighs in at 0.645 Kg (1.4 lbs) and costs $10.99 CDN ($7.91 USD)

Besides being a great source of fibre and nutrients, this treat is healthy in another way … the clamshell packaging is almost impossible to break into! I know I could put it in another container, but I decided to reseal it in this one every time.

The brittle, although quite sweet, is so full of a big variety of seeds (pumpkin, sesame, sunflower, flax) and nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios), and coconut, that it’s surprisingly easy to bite into and chew, and one piece always tastes like more.

Best to leave it locked down like Fort Knox.

Weekend Update ( not SNL). Not only do we have birds, but now we have Raccoons and Foxes. Last evening, around 9 PM, after the patio string lights came on, here comes two Foxes to feast on the apples left for the trash Pandas. Smallish, skinny and skittish, they ate the grub, then took off through the iron gate to their night of raiding or sleeping. Gotta love our critters.

You sure do have a lot of critters, Phil! Here, it’s mostly squirrels (lots of those) and birds, but we’re in the middle of our little city, so we don’t expect others. Have a great day!

My old buddy would say, “I prefer to eat the things that eat ‘Nut and Seed Brittle”. Though he always made me laugh, this surely sounds like something I would enjoy to try. Cheers!

That looks tempting, Terry. Just as well the clamshell packaging is hard to get into.

Yes, Carole. It’s one of those things that’s tough to stop once you start.

I will have to tell Dan. He goes out there with Jen. I can’t handle their raw cement floors.

It looks amazing Terry. I would buy it for Dan. I love coconut but you lost me at pumpkin seeds. I used to eat them by the bag full – now I am violently ill if I accidentally eat one. So weird. 🙄 Have a great day, Terry!

If you want to get some for Dan, we bought it at Regina Costco. It was near the bakery area. Have a fab day, Anne!

That is a rich filling snack! I used to eat millet years ago and my colleagues always associated it with budgie food and laughed. We have “Trill” budgie food brand here which contains lots of millet.

It’s definitely filling, Lana. A small portion goes a long way. Funny that your colleagues also saw your snack as birdseed. Have a great day!

It was actually a big part of my regular lunch. I took it very seriously as I read in a nutrition book it was the food with the most nutrients in it. Really do not like the taste though!

I take it you’re not a coconut lover, Betty. I like coconut but it’s barely noticeable in this snack because of the many other ingredients. Have a great day!
