The New Build

Last week, I was happy to return to (brisk) walking the developed trails that follow the outskirts of our prairie city.

As I was walking along one of these trails, I looked up to the side and saw this big new build. I can’t begin to guess the square footage of this three and a half story house that looks over a trail by the river.

I couldn’t help thinking, “I wonder if they’re installing an elevator.”

Is my age showing?

I love multi story homes! We would probably need an elevator for Molly at some point.

Our first home was two and a half stories, Anne. That was fine when we were younger. Now, the less stories the better for us, lol.

Wow, that’s a big house. Hey, I’m with you on the elevator. I hope they did.

Thanks, Edward! It’s a fair ways from being completed, but whenever it is, I’ll post an update with whatever info I can glean. In our small prairie city, almost everyone knows something about what’s happening. 😊

Wow, it looks like a blot on the landscape. Maybe it is a guest house or hotel? I can’t imagine having a house with SO many steps. Yep they need an elevator

At least there are the cute personal lifts that follow the stairway. Back in 1980, my father and me built our fourth beach house in Port Aransas, Texas. It was a three-and-a-half-story job with nothing but stairs to the heavens. I told him at that time that this is not the house for older people, or even some younger ones. After suffering through the ups and downs for over 20 years, my sister and I sold the place. Even in our mid-40s, we couldn’t negotiate the maze to every room. Multi-storied homes are for young folks; single-story, ground-level homes are for us old folks. We are visiting Colorado Springs and Momo’s daughter’s house, in a 3-story house with lots of stairs. Between the 8600 altitude and the stairs, it’s killing us. Nice looking home.

You’re 100% right on the stairs issue, Phil! Thanks for stopping by to read and comment!

And I would think, “I’m glad I don’t have to clean all that!” But I bet they’ll have a pretty view.

They have a beautiful view for sure, Betty and cleaning was another thought of mine!

They will get their exercise going up and down those levels. HA

My thoughts exactly, Charla. I’m sure it’s going to be a lovely home once completed – just not one that I’d be living in because of all of the stairs.

Maybe you can take a picture of the house for us when it is done. 🙂

I wonder what kind of view they are going to have from up there?

They look out over a walking trail through wildlife habitat and beside the river, Randy. I’d guess it’s going to be an interesting view year round.
