Easing Back In

After temporarily losing my sense of taste and smell, I found myself eating anything and everything in sight in hopes of tasting anything.

Thanks to the daily posts by a blogging friend, Anne, I’ve been able to resume my former, much healthier eating habits.

For a daily dose of positive outlook and determination, Anne’s inspiring blog is definitely worth checking out.

I am glad you got much of your sense of taste back, and I hope you get it all back. Are there some things that you can taste better than others?

Thanks, Betty! The first to come back was salty, then came sweet and both of those are very strong. All other tastes are a bit subtle yet, but together with sweet and salty, they’re enough that I don’t have to go searching for something to taste.

Wonderful that your sense of taste has come back 90%. I hope it gets to 100% soon. Your salad looks delicious.

Thanks, Charla! The salad is very a simple one, but tasty.

Thank you, Terry! You are too kind. 🤗💕 I hope your taste and smell has returned. I have had major sinus issues since 2012 when I was in hospital, on oxygen, for a month. After being told for 13 years that my sinuses were fine, my respiratory specialist put me on daily sinus rinse and a prescription nasal spray. I breathe easier but more amazing, I TASTE way better. Everything seemed bland before. It has been incredible having my sense of taste return. I thought our sense of taste came from taste buds. I have now read (and experienced) that if your sinuses are plugged, preventing smell from flowing into your mouth as you eat, your sense of taste is limited. My eyesight is also better, since the swelling has gone down in my sinuses. Sinuses are so much more important to our wellbeing than I knew.

Yes, our sense of taste is definitely directly connected to our sense of smell, Anne. I’ve happily recovered both to about 90% so that’s a whole lot better than zero % which is miserable for a foodie and cooking/baking lover … and I’m in that group for sure! I’m so happy you were able to resolve your issues with taste. Have a great day, and keep warm … I’m “way” over this cold wind already.

I am with you on the wind. Today we are supposed to get smoke. 🤦 My little plants are all still holding their own – despite the wind and smoke. 👍
