For the past couple of days, my outdoor walks have been on hold because winds carrying forest fire smoke from hundreds of miles away have created air quality issues here.

That brownish yellow sky isn’t normal here, thank goodness.

    I thought of you when I read about the fires in Canada. Is this a bit early in the year for such big fires? No matter, I really hope no one gets hurt.

      Thanks for thinking of us, Charla. We’re hundreds of miles away from the actual fires and this is the time of year they typically start … it’s been this way for as long as I can remember

    Seems as if Canada is getting these yearly. We have them in Texas and I have seen the sky like your picture. Where I live, in the country, it’s likely caused by folks burning brush or trash, then they set the prairie’s and the hills on fire. Best to stay inside for a few days.

      Our North has had the forest fires yearly for as long as I can remember. Do you also get the Sahara desert dust, Phil? I have a friend in Llano, TX who is inundated with that every year.

        Yep, it’s due here sometime this week. Combine that with our west Texas dust and it gets a little scratchy.

    It’s pretty much the same where I live in Iowa. The last few days our skies have been overcast with wildfire smoke from the Canada wildfires.
    And unfortunately, it’s likely going to keeps us from seeing the forecasted aurora tonight.

      I’ve been resuming my power walking bit by bit, Carole. My speed is pretty much back to normal. My distance needs to double to get to where I was before. It’s going to take time and I’ll persevere. Thanks for asking! 😊

    Terry, my brother who lives in DeSoto, MO texted me a picture of the lake behind his house. There was definitely a haze over the sunset. He said it was from the Canadian wildfires. I checked online, and the smoke from the fires is reaching the Midwest! Hopefully, this year won’t be too bad. Stay safe!

      Thanks, Betty. Yes, the power of the wind to transport particles long distances is amazing. We have friends who live year round in our park in Texas. They’re currently having a dust cover from the Sahara Dessert in Africa! This is also a yearly occurrence in Texas.

    Oh what a shame. Is it noticeably quieter on streets or do people still venture out?

      It’s been like this every summer for as long as I can remember, Lana … so folks just go about their business as usual. The only difference is that the ones who take outdoor exercise either put it on hold or go to the gym.
