Our park goes all out for Christmas. Each street is given a theme (Santa Claus Lane, Candy Cane Drive, etc), and people decorate accordingly. There’s a little contest for the best decorated lot, but most folks just decorate for the joy of it, vs trying to win a prize.
There’s also a lighted golf cart parade and a cookie exchange .
There are fund raisers for the RGV food bank during December to provide Christmas meals for poor families in the area. Last year, our park raised over $7,000. The H.E.B. Food Chain matches our donation (up to 10,000), so that $14,000 plus, provided many meals.
One of our park residents also sets up big collection boxes in the front office for donations of unwrapped toys for underprivileged children in the area. The last time I checked, both boxes were full to overflowing.
My feature photo is the yard of our neighbours across the street. They always do a great job of their lights and decorations. Ours isn’t finished yet, and isn’t quite as fancy, but it’s coming along.

Your park sounds fun! I wonder what your theme is and does the theme change year to year for each lane? There is so much goodness and generosity in the world. Our New Town neighborhood has so many generous people, too. It’s very heartwarming to see and to read about. Sounds like you are in a special place. Enjoy! (Even though I know you are! Good for you!)

The theme changes from year to year and, in order to keep costs down, some folks lend out decorations to accommodate the new theme. Our street is “Christmas Lane” this year. I just read on our park’s FB page that we’re already at $6330 for the food bank, so we’ll no doubt surpass last year. It truly is a fun and generous park, Betty!
