Along all of my walking trails, there are a variety of benches placed at strategic spots to allow for viewing of the river, birds, and other creatures in their natural habitat.

I seldom stop to sit down when I’m power walking, but I do enjoy quick stops to photograph them at different angles and in different seasons.

On a recent early morning walk, this bench looked particularly lonely. Perhaps the next time I pass it, I’ll have a seat for a few moments.

“There is only one way to understand a lonely bench in a park: Sit on it; watch whatever it is watching; listen whatever it is listening to! Sit in spring, sit in winter, sit in summer! To understand something deeply, you need to live its life!”
