    Hiatus

I’m behind and not able to catch up with reading and commenting on the blogs I follow.

Today, I’m just letting my followers know that I’m healthy and OK

A break is necessary for me right now.

Family first is and always has been my motto.

I’m also at a place where I find myself needing to prioritize many things in my life – maintaining this blog is one of those things.

Take good care, all – and I’ll maybe be back in a few weeks with my final decision about whether or not I’ll continue WP.

  • Plan B

    Plan B

When hubs and I entered full retirement life, we agreed on winters somewhere warm to get away from our harsh Canadian winters.

Having explored a few options while we were still working (vacations to Mexico and Arizona, a Caribbean cruise, and a 10 Day stay on Curaçao), we agreed on trying the RGV in South Texas.

Our first two winters there were with our motorhome and we completely lucked in to a park and community far beyond our expectations.

During our second season, we decided to purchase a mobile home in that park.

We have zero regrets … well, maybe just one.

Hubs’ health no longer justifies long stretches south of the 49’th parallel, so the mobile home purchase was maybe not such a great idea. The one truly special thing about the large mobile, is that we were able to house and entertain many family visitors after we bought it. Those special memories will last forever.

When he’s feeling up to it, we’ll make one last trip to the RGV to pack up our sentimental items to bring home, list our mobile for sale, and bid a sad farewell to the dear friends we’ve made there over the past seven years.

I’ll post updates as things progress – for now, suffice it to say… I’m OK … Sad, but OK.

    There’s always a plan B.

  • New Year, New Approach

    New Year, New Approach

There’s something about a new year that drives us to want to make significant improvements in our lives.

Resolutions for a new year are usually made with the best intentions.

Unfortunately for me, and almost anyone else I’ve spoken to over the years, these New Year’s Resolutions all too often morph into New Year’s failures, disappointments, self-doubt and self-chastisement.

I later moved on to setting goals. This was somewhat less discouraging, but still never 100% successful.

This year, I’m trying yet another approach. This one is about asking intention questions and then working with the answers to set daily affirmations. The affirmations are a guide instead of a hard and fast rule or goal. I like that.

These are my questions and affirmations for 2026 and beyond:

    1. How do I want to live my life? Affirmations: I’m thankful for my many blessings. I’m happy, I’m healthy, and I’m eager to continually learn new things and develop new skills.
    2. What personal qualities do I want to embrace? Affirmations: I continue to care about my health and that of others around me. I share what I know and learn, in hopes of helping others.
    3. How do I want to experience relationships with others in my world? Affirmations: I make regular contact with friends and family. When necessary, I set healthy boundaries. I experience joy in my interactions with others.
