On yesterday morning’s walk, I noticed this bee sitting very still on a dandelion, so I thought I’d try to get close enough to try the shot.
Bees are notoriously difficult to capture in a shot because they’re usually busy zipping along from one flower to another, gathering nectar and doing their jobs in pollination .
Perhaps because this isn’t the time of year for pollination, this guy could just relax and take his time.
Whatever the reason, I was able to get within about 3 inches of him for the shot and he didn’t budge.
“As much as any creature on the planet, bees provide a win-win situation with their actions… I suppose we could all take a lesson from them.”
Jay Ebben – Painted Hives
I didn’t realize the yellow flower was a dandelion – until I read it in your post! Also, I love the quote!
In Michigan, I kept seeing a Monarch butterfly when I was up on the dune. In my mind, I saw a close up picture of the Monarch with the dune grass and sand and the beautiful blue lake in the background. Given my cell phone camera and how that darn butterfly always flew away, the picture remains in my imagination.
Your photo is a great capture!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Betty! Yes, butterflies and bees are tough creatures to get clear still photos of. Many shots of those buzzing/fluttering things are only in my mind as well. Sometimes (very rarely), I get lucky. Have a great Friday! 😊
