Whataburger is as much a Texas institution as football is. The chain was started in Corpus Christi in 1950, and is based and headquartered in San Antonio. It has more than 670 locations in Texas and over 150 in New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and the southern states.

Hubs and I discovered Whataburger during our first winter in TX in 2019/20. There’s a location just a few blocks from here. We found the burgers to be tasty, juicy, and generous in size. The fries are also exactly the way we like them. Now, we don’t do fast food often, but when we do (maybe only three or four times in the past 6 months), we almost always choose Whataburger.

Last summer, Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, made headlines when this Texas native decided to open the first Kansas City Whataburger franchise. He couldn’t imagine living somewhere where his favourite burgers weren’t available.

With the pantry and fridge being pretty much completely bare, we’ll be dining out from now until we arrive back at home. Last night we chose Whataburger. I had the regular burger and hubs had the buffalo chicken burger. It didn’t disappoint and we completely understand why Patrick Mahomes is opening a franchise in KC.

Photo Note: For my feature photo, I had taken both a portrait shot and a regular shot. The portrait showed the front burger up nicely, but created too much blur on the the company logo on the cups, so, because the main theme of my post is Whataburger, I opted for the regular shot. All I did in post processing was to crop and resize.

Portrait Mode Shot … Which one do you prefer?
