Late yesterday afternoon, I looked from my armchair out through our balcony door window and saw the reflection I chose for today’s feature photo and post. I’ve been thinking about a post for Oktoberfest month. Perhaps one about beer fits the bill.
I’m sure that reflection has been there many times since hubs placed that giant beer bottle on our balcony about three years ago. Yesterday was the first time I noticed it.
I like the bold main reflection as well as the softer flecks of green projected onto our storage room door.
So why do we have a giant empty beer bottle on our balcony?
In the autumn of 2019, as we made our way to Texas for our first winter south, we saw these in a cooler at a filling station. Hubs and I both enjoy a cold imported beer on a hot day, so we thought it would be fun to try this Dutch one someday. If I remember correctly, the weather was cool when we first arrived at our destination, so we didn’t open that beer until we had been at our Texas park for about two weeks.
Hubs bought the big beer for the bottle. He decorates our balcony “man-cave” style and I’m ok with that because there really is nowhere else in our condo that he can have his own space. He placed the bottle (I’m sure unintentionally) in a spot where it catches perfect late afternoon sunlight and reflects it beautifully.
Now, instead being just a big beer bottle sitting on the floor of our balcony, the light it reflects has transformed it into haute couture decor. I’ll have to mention this to hubs (much tongue in cheek right there).
Photo Note: In the original photo, the side of the bottle was straight but the door frame was skewed. This often happens if you try to capture more than one straight line in a photo. To correct this, I just used my native photos app. Within the crop tool there are three straightening tools. By playing around with all three, I was able to get the vertical lines of both the door frame and the bottle fairly straight.
“Whoever drinks beer, he is quick to sleep; whoever sleeps long, does not sin; whoever does not sin, enters Heaven! Thus, let us drink beer!”
Martin Luther
I love the bottle’s reflection on the wall. Nice capture. And while I don’t drink beer, the quote today is the best! I had to laugh! Have a great day!

I giggled when I found that quote … especially because it was from Martin Luther, of all people! Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Betty. Have a great Saturday!
