July 1st is Canada Day. Our country celebrates it’s 155th birthday today.

Our city has festivities planned for the entire weekend and kicked everything off yesterday with the annual summer parade.

One of the many things I love about our location is that because we’re on Main Street – not far from downtown, every parade goes right past our front door.

My favourites are always the horses

The age demographic of our particular residential area (our condo building and the apartment building across the street) is 55+ and I’m sure that every senior in each building either sits on their street-facing balcony, if they have one, or brings a lawn chair outside.

We picked my Mom up to come watch the parade here. It was so enjoyable for her. Mom and Dad lived in the building across the street until they moved to assisted living. When the parade was over, many of her old neighbours from the building came across to have a visit with her.
