As my Dad, he was in my life for almost 68 years.
He was my rock and my inspiration. He gave me my motivation, my courage, my confidence, my curiosity, my love of nature, my sense of humour, my faith, my love of fun, my perseverance, and so many other parts of my personality. Whenever my Mom says to me, “you’re so much like your Dad”, I’m honoured. He was a fine human being to be compared to.
This is my first Father’s Day without him.
My feature photo was taken on a trip hubs and I did with Mom and Dad to the Black Hills of South Dakota. Dad insisted we take his car. He had recently purchased the second hand car and was so proud of it. Dad didn’t own a brand new car in the entire 89 years of his life, but the cars he did buy were always in mint condition and by his pride in them, and the joy they gave him, you’d think he had ordered them direct from the factory.
Happy Father’s Day to all of the Dads out there.
