Pier 19 is an iconic, fun, and quirky restaurant/bar at the far south end of Padre Island.
Although we didn’t dine at Pier 19 when we last visited SPI, we enjoyed a walkabout of the pier area and the hostess obligingly took us on a walk-through of the inside of the waterfront restaurant.
The restaurant enjoys excellent reviews on Trip Advisor, so I’m sure we’ll try it out next time we visit.
Osprey Cruises offers dolphin watch and fishing cruises that depart regularly from the pier.

Pier 19 offers great waterfront views of the Laguna Madre Bay.

And what can beat a little fun kitsch as you arrive at the pier?

This next photo cracked me up. I was so busy giving hubs instructions on how to operate my phone camera, I didn’t take time to figure out which way I should have been facing!

Looks like a fun place. It took me a few minutes with the sign, too. I am interested in your review of the restaurant; although, we probably wouldn’t eat there. Hope you have a great day!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Betty. I think we’ll be heading back over to SPI this week sometime, so will likely try it out. I’m curious to know why you probably wouldn’t eat there.

While we like some seafood, we are not real big on it. But mostly, we are just not prone to paying a lot for a meal. I would also guess it is expensive. Also, with our travel trailer travels, we often enjoy meals with beautiful scenery – costing only what we spent on food. Your post reminded me of San Diego. Someone recommended either a pasta or seafood place to us. We checked it out. High priced with fancy menu items. We’re simple folk. We chose to eat at Applebee’s overlooking the bay. We were quite happy with our meal. But to each their own! Life would be boring if we were all the same! I am sure it will be an enjoyable meal and experience.

You’re so right Betty. If we were all the same, it would be a boring old world. Because we seldom (if ever) dine out when we’re home, and truthfully not even that often when we’re on vacation either, we don’t mind spending a bit when we do go to a restaurant for a meal. Pier 19 is far from a fancy restaurant. Hubs and I refer to these places as “back to nature”, meaning they’re so far from fancy we have to decide if we want to dine there, if you know what I mean. We’re not big on actual sea food either, but we do enjoy fresh caught fish every now and then. When we do dine out on vacation, we have a “when in Rome” approach and like to sample what the local foods are. For us, eating the local foods is part of the experience. That said, we drew the line at Iguana stew when we visited Curaçao a few years back, lol. Everyone said it was good and “tasted like chicken” but some folks say frogs legs taste like chicken too, and those are also in the “no go zone” for us. I guess you could say we’re “slightly” adventurous with local cuisines, but no more than that. I appreciate your candid comments about your preferences. These are the types of conversations that help us to learn more about each other 😊 I hope you’re enjoying a fab Monday!
