At the end of day three of our Saskatchewan road trip, we treated ourselves to a stay at a new hotel. The Dakota Dunes Resort Hotel opened in October of 2020 but due to Covid-19, the occupancy hasn’t been high over the past year, so everything is still like brand new.

Our third floor room looked out over the parking lot, but the spectacular sunset we enjoyed made it worthwhile. I featured the photo I took from our room. In post processing, I edited the white balance to compensate for the shot through a tinted window, and increased the contrast to more accurately show what we were seeing.

After looking around the hotel, we had a swim and hot tub. We had the entire pool area to ourselves. We then went back to our room to watch the sunset, followed by a nice supper of Caesar Salad and fried Bannock in the Casino Restaurant. The hotel has a beautiful restaurant with high end cuisine, but we preferred to eat light because was fairly late by the time we dined.

The Dakota Dunes Casino Resort is located on the White Cap Dakota First Nation, just 30 minutes south of Saskatoon, SK. With the award-winning #1 rated golf course in our province, the spectacular views, and the beautifully appointed hotel, I’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling in the area. Even if you don’t enjoy gambling or golf, the hotel itself is well worth the stay.
