On yesterday morning’s walk, I came across a hedge of Four O’Clocks.

I hadn’t seen these showy flowers for many years. My Mom always planted a row of them on the east side of their home.

Four O’Clocks are so-named because their flowers open in the late afternoon each day and then remain open until the following morning.

I caught a few photos of these at morning golden hour, just as they were preparing to close for the day.

The sunlight on the morning dew was a bonus. I’m all about bonuses in photos. I guess that’s because of the surprise and happiness I feel when I’ve unintentionally captured something that adds to a shot.

“Innumerable as the stars of night, Or stars of morning, dewdrops which the sun Impearls on every leaf and every flower.”

John Milton
