To get to and from several of my favourite walking trails, I have to cross railroad tracks.
I used to find it frustrating when I’d be at my top pace and those blessed arms would come down in front of me, forcing me to stop. Because we’re on a major rail line to the USA, the trains that run through here are seldom short ones.
I finally figured out a couple of solutions to keep my pace going and my heart rate where I like it to be for my fitness goals.
Now, instead of stopping and waiting, I keep moving by either doubling back a bit for a detour, or by doing a few laps around a large parking lot adjacent to the tracks.
“What we are waiting for is not as important as what happens to us while we are waiting. Trust the process.”

Just as long as you never try to beat the train. Although, I have to say I would bet that never crossed your mind. Yikes to even think of it! The quote is wise. All we can do is make the best of waiting when we have to wait. Just like you do when the blessed arms come down. 🙂 Enjoy your day!
