Yesterday, at around noon, hubs said, “I’m leaving in ten minutes”.

This is always my cue to get ready for an unplanned car ride. Isn’t retirement grand?

We headed west, and, in total, spent four hours driving and about two hours enjoying dinner at a great roadside restaurant close to home.

We drove up and down the streets of small towns, checked out their historical homes, their parks, and their campgrounds.

The sky was blue, the weather warm, the country tunes on the radio were honouring Moms, and we just spent the day doing what we both love – driving, exploring, enjoying the ever-changing terrain, joking back and forth, and reminiscing.

Dinner was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The entire meal was home made, including the bruschetta, and also the croutons, the bacon bits, and the dressing on the Caesar salad.

We each had a different entree and dessert, so shared those.
Fantastic value for what was included!
What a way to end a perfect day!

“That perfect day, that magic moment that we’re all waiting for, is right now.”
