On a recent late morning power walk, I was at my maximum pace when something laying alongside the path caught my eye.

I stopped immediately, almost pitching forward from the abrupt stop.

As I knelt down to take a closer look, I saw that it was a tiny leaf, shimmering with frost in the early morning sun.

When I power walk, I don’t take my extra iPhone lenses along. Something told me, that because it was shimmering so brightly as to stop me in my tracks, if I could magnify this shot, there was something special to see.

I switched from my native camera app to Camera plus app, which has a macro feature, and snapped a couple of quick photos before continuing on my way.

I always complete my walk before I check any photos I may have taken along the way. Often, hurried stops don’t result in many good images. That said, I was very pleased with the details of the ice crystals in this one.
