I pass by this old building on the way to many of my walking trails.
Yesterday, the red brick against the clear, dark blue sky prompted me to make a quick stop to get a couple of photos.
On reviewing the photos, I rendered a B/W in editing and I preferred that to the color original. The detail of the bricks in their various patterns stood out more and the deep blue sky transformed to black, which added drama.
Something else I noticed on stretching the photo to examine the details, was the crest in the corner dormer. The words at the top of the crest translate to “Well Being through Harmony”. What a timeless message!
“Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well.”
~ Mahatma Gandhi
What a great and timeless message! I do wonder why are two years – 1817 and 1909 – on the building? Your photo shows off the very artful brickwork.

I’m not sure about the two dates. I’m trying to research it. Sometimes that means 2 construction or renovation stages. Thanks for your comment, Betty! Have a great day!

Sometimes it takes a photo to see something “new” that’s been there all along. Thanks for your comment, Jean! Have a great day!
