At the far end of our south city limits, stand two historical buildings.
One is our old water tower and the other is the old Calvary Baptist Church where Tommy Douglas (often referred to as the greatest Canadian) was the minister in the early 1930’s, before he entered politics.
I walk this route often, but from the street view, I’ve never seen the two peaks together. On a recent stroll through the neighbouring community garden park towards the back, I saw the two peaks together as I made my way back to the street.
“Courage, my friends; ’tis not too late to build a better world.”
~ Tommy Douglas
Perhaps it is a bit of a stretch, but the first thing I thought of when seeing these 2 structures was the Romeo and Juliet windmill designed by Frank Lloyd Wright on the Taliesin estate. Funny how the mind works. Maybe I thought of that because I don’t know anything about Tommy Douglas. I do find hope in his quote. Enjoy your day!

Thanks for the read and for your comment, Betty! I like your comparison to the Wright windmill. Happy Thursday!

Lovely buildings. Very unlike what we have in Ireland.

Thank you for stopping by, Jean. Canada is only 154 years old, so our “old” buildings would be babies compared to yours. I look forward to the day we can see the old architecture of places like Ireland.
