On many of my walks that take me along the river, I’ve noticed what looks like a single tire track running along the entirety of whatever part of the river I’m at.
Often, it’s accompanied by various other animal, human, and sled tracks all around it so it doesn’t stand out as much as it did on this day when it was the first track on the snow-covered river.
On this February day, both the shadows and the solitary track on the river were enhanced by the bright mid-morning sun shining on the cover of freshly fallen snow.
I’ve often wondered if the track is really a tire track at all, or some artifact on the surface, caused by the flow of the river far beneath the ice. Now, I’m wondering if someone has been riding a wide-tired bicycle on the river, which really makes no sense at all.
“The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes.”
~ Arthur Conan Doyle
It is very curious. The only thing it looks to be is a track from a bicycle. Who would ride a bicycle down the middle of a frozen river? I hope you solve this mystery! Enjoy your day!

Thanks for stopping by and for your comment, Betty! If it is a bicycle, it has very wide tires, and has been everywhere on the river. “Curiouser and Curiouser”, as Alice would say 😊 Have a great day!
