Except for the subdued colours of the playground equipment … the combination of the overcast sky, the white snow, and the dark outlines of the trees would have made this appear to be a black and white photo, even though it’s not.
My walking trail yesterday morning took me through our city campgrounds. As I passed this abandoned play structure , I recalled how cheerful and colourful it always looks when I pass it on summer walks.
What was it that made me think that this structure was painted in brighter colours than it actually is? Was it the laughter of the children playing on and around it on bright summer days? Was it that the blue sky and the green grass added to the canvas? Our mind’s eye is influenced more than we even realize.
“The paradox of reality is that no image is as compelling as the one which exists only in the mind’s eye”

Perhaps the addition of sunshine brightens the scene as well!

No doubt you heard echoes of kids playing.

I absolutely did! There’s a spray park with a big splash ball in this area as well, and I could definitely hear their squeals and laughter from last summer’s walks
