About 35 years ago, when our daughter was in playschool, she made this tree ornament for me as a Christmas gift.
I’ll never forget the love and excitement in her eyes as I opened it.
Over the years, the ornament has lost some of the fabric pieces, but it will always have a prominent spot on our tree. It was my first Christmas gift of many through the years from our only child.
“When a child gives you a gift, even if it is a rock they just picked up, exude gratitude. it may be the only thing they have to give, and they have chosen to give it to you”
~Dean Jackson
I remember going to Ben Franklin as a young girl. Maybe I was with my dad, maybe he gave me some money to buy my mom a gift. I was pretty young, so the memories are faded. However, I do remember I picked out a white bowl. Lol. I was so excited to give it to my mom. I guess I thought it was the best bowl in the whole world. I wrapped it in white tissue paper. I still remember how happy I was to give it to her. To me, it represented all the love in my heart for my mom. My mom liked her bowl and used it for as long as I can remember. How wonderful you have saved this very first gift from your daughter. What a treasure it is! Thanks for your heartwarming post.
