While visiting the World Birding Center Headquarters in Bensten State Park in Mission, TX – one of the challenges I had set for myself that day was to capture a photo of a hummingbird in flight.

Many of my attempts were no more than a blur. I was pleased to find among the numerous failed shots, this one of a Calliope Hummingbird as he (she?) was fleeing the feeder. The photo, (my feature pic), although not zoomed in enough nor as professional as many I’ve seen in Google Images, is enough to refresh my memories of the moment. I’ve also discovered that it’s almost impossible to see on a smartphone screen without stretching the image. Oh well.

Day 12 of mandatory quarantine after travel is well on it’s way.

Stay safe and stay healthy everyone!

“I always loved those little creatures [hummingbirds], always feel blessed when they appear nearby. There’s a magical quality to them. I finally put one in a song.” ~ Leonard Cohen
