Old buildings are a fave photo subject, especially the ones that are leaning.
There’s something about how they continue to age and lean, yet insist on still standing. This particular building leaned more and more every year, and just last year, finally toppled in a strong wind. Had it not been for that wind, I’m certain it would be still standing.
We’re sort of like that. We start out new and fresh, and over time, we start to deteriorate. The human spirit keeps us “standing” despite our physical frailties. What finally takes us down is a wind stronger than we are – be it disease, injury in some cases, or the natural death that accompanies advanced old age. Up until that time, we persevere, we keep going, and we keep standing.
“It`s not how old you are, it`s how you are old.”
